A personal friend of Stravinsky, Giacomo Manzù (Bergamo 1908–Rome 1991) was at his side on the stage of La Scala signing the sets of Œdipus Rex (1964) and the Histoire du soldat (1966-1970). His conception of “music in space,” mediated by plays of light, materialised in collage-sketches and small clay models, in light, chalky colours, luminescent boxes which reveal his love of textures and evoke the scenic gesture.
