An eclectic, unquiet spirit, Piero Zuffi (Imola 1919–Rome 2006) welcomed the most disparate legacies, from the Elizabethan theatre to the Japanese tradition, and converted them into an imaginative scenographer’s personality, intent on continuously experimenting, dispersive by an excess of talent. At La Scala he signed famous performances collaborating with Maria Callas, Carlo Maria Giulini, Luchino Visconti. Tempted by the cinema, he dissipated his cultural patrimony, ending his adventure tragically.
